We've been busy. I Blame Pinterest. We're really diggin these fun projects that keep up busy, but we can't seem to get anything done fast enough! I want sooooo many things done to the house, Redesigns, updesigns, organization, painting, on and on!  I haven't blogged in such a long time, that I feel out of the loop. I will start from where we're at and hope to see some followers and give some inspiration on decor and design :)

Our Fireplace was a drab old brick red with white mantle. Hubster and I decided we needed and upgrade. So I painted and glazed the mantle a grey stonewashed color. I honestly had no rhyme or reason to the madness, I just took some grey paint, dry brushed it with a taupe and white, then swiped it with a rag until it had the desired look I was going for. Thank goodness it turned out, I was seriously worried for a minute.
The brick was painted white and taupe. With the brick , it took a little while to really get it soaked in. I took my time (2 days) of dry brushing and ragging, dry brush and rag, dry brush and rag. You get the idea.

We also replaced all of the curtain rods in our living and dining room with tree limbs we found while out hiking.   We love nature and trees (obviously) so we had to have a tree limb in our home to add another touch of relaxing nature. This tree limb happens to have come from a tree farm my husband gets wood, trees and stumps for his building projects. We have tall ceilings and I couldn't get the whole tree limb in the picture, but I really like the effect it brings to our home. We added some twinkle lights around the base that add a nice element when we're ready to relax in the evenings. I also used burlap sacks around the base as well. The color just goes and it just works with the feel in the room.

Now off to the next project :)

Redo as therapy.

Design 1509-- #1

My New very own design blog!!!! I've wanted to start one for a while. I have my family blog @ www.thetannerfamilyrus.blogspot.com if you'd like to check it out. I swear I have the best intentions to put only my creations and redesigns on this blog, for those of you who are only interested in "getting away" from family life for only a little while. The redesigning is my love away from the true loves of my life. My family will always come first... shhh, don't tell anyone that my children didn't bathe or eat for the 5 days It took me to finish this project.
This Hutch and Table set was in my moms kitchen. She was dreaming of Grey and Yellow. She loves distressed furniture, so I did that for her on both of these pieces. Mainly on the table, cuz let's face it, It's easier to distress a flat surface. I decided to put fabric on the back of the hutch for some flair, mom loved the idea, but couldn't find that "perfect" fabric. She searched and came up with a shower curtain on a display case @ Bed Bath and Beyond. She asked the salesclerk about it and she said that she could have it even though they weren't selling this particular curtain yet. I though it was a great find and it looks fabulous as the backdrop to her hutch. I'm pleased with the outcome and now mom gets her yellow and grey kitchen! Plus, she paid me in Frankoma Pottery, so I won out too!! Now to just figure out where to display that beautiful pottery. Maybe that will be my next post ;)
